Parliamentary evidence

Parliament’s International Development Committee is holding an inquiry on global food security and today one of the UK Food Group’s co-chairs, Patrick Mulvany, was a witness at one of their evidence sessions. You can watch the session on video:

The UK Food Group submitted written evidence to the inquiry back in December, and the committee asked the UK Food Group to speak at their evidence session with NGOs. The other two speakers were Max Lawson from Oxfam and David McNair from Save the Children (both UK Food Group member organisations). It was followed by a session with three academic speakers.

The session lasted about an hour and a quarter and covered a wide range of topics including: support for small-scale food providers, governance through the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS), speculation & food price spikes, agrofuels, land grabs, investment in agriculture, and the G8’s New Alliance.
