The following organisations are members and observers of the UK Food Group:

ACORD
ACORD is an African-led international NGO working for social justice and development in 18 countries in Africa and headquartered in Nairobi. ACORD believes that through the power of collective action African citizens have the ability to transform their future.

Agricultural Christian Fellowship
The Agricultural Christian Fellowship (ACF) is open to all Christians in all branches of agriculture, horticulture and related activities. It exists to help them to make a Christian response to the many blessings, challenges and problems they face.

Baby Milk Action
Baby Milk Action aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant and young child feeding. Baby Milk Action works within a global network (IBFAN, the International Baby Food Action Network) to strengthen independent, transparent and effective controls on the marketing of the baby feeding industry.

Banana Link
Banana Link works towards environmental, social and economic sustainability in the international banana trade. Banana Link focuses on campaigns and awareness raising, lobbying activities and promoting sustainable policies including Fairtrade. Banana Link works closely with banana workers’ trade unions in Latin America and small farmers in the Caribbean and is a key member of EUROBAN (European Banana Action Network).

The Brooke
We are an international animal welfare organisation dedicated to improving the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules in some of the world’s poorest communities.

CAFOD
CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. It funds development projects which are inspired and managed by local people, putting faith in people’s abilities to find their own solutions to their problems. As a voice for the poor, CAFOD works to raise awareness of the root causes of poverty and injustice and campaigns for change.

Centre for Agroecology, Water & Resilience
The Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR) at Coventry University is driving innovative, transdisciplinary research on the understanding and development of resilient food and water systems internationally.

Centre for Food Policy
The Centre for Food Policy at City University researches and educates on how policy-making processes work and how they both reflect and shape the nature of food supply and consumption. It is interested in the policy place of food in society and the impact on health, environment, social justice and economy.

Concern Worldwide
Concern Worldwide is an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and suffering in the world’s poorest countries. We work in partnership with the very poorest people in 26 countries, directly enabling them to improve their lives, as well as using our knowledge and experience to influence decisions made at a local, national and international level that can significantly reduce extreme poverty.

EcoNexus
EcoNexus is a not-for-profit public interest research organisation analysing developments in science and technology and their impacts on environment and society. It investigates, reports and acts on threats to biodiversity, climate, ecosystems, local and agro-ecological farming systems, food security & sovereignty, health and the interests of indigenous peoples and local communities.

Excellent Development
Excellent Development supports rural, dryland communities to work their way out of poverty with dignity. We work with local partners to support communities to build sand dams, which provide clean water for life and the opportunity to grow more food to eat, store and sell. Sand dams empower communities, putting their future firmly in their own hands. We believe that they will transform millions of lives.

Farms Not Factories
Farms Not Factories is a film-making and campaigning organisation. Part of the Food Sovereignty movement, we support people across the world who are campaigning against factory pig farming, a system that abuses animals, threatens our health by overusing antibiotics, destroys rural communities, and pollutes the air and water.

Find Your Feet
Find Your Feet is small organisation that works in some of the most remote areas of India, Nepal, Malawi and Zimbabwe. We enable poor rural families to grow enough food so they don’t have to go hungry, to strengthen their voice so they can speak out against injustice and to earn enough money so they can find their feet.

Food Ethics Council (observer)
The Food Ethics Council provides independent advice on the ethics of food and farming. Our aim is to create a food system that is fair and healthy for people and the environment.

Friends of the Earth
Friends of the Earth campaigns for solutions to environmental problems.

Gaia Foundation
The Gaia Foundation is passionate about regenerating cultural and biological diversity, and restoring a respectful relationship with the Earth. Together with long-term partners in Africa, South America, Asia and Europe, we work with local communities to secure land, seed, food and water sovereignty.

Garden Africa
GardenAfrica enables people to support themselves, their families and their communities by facilitating horticultural training designed to grow nutritious food, conserve essential species, manage natural resources and generate income, all without dependence on expensive pesticides, fertilisers or hybrid seed. With increased diversity and higher yields our trainees are able to build a healthy, debt-free future.

Garden Organic
Garden Organic, the UK’s leading organic growing charity, has been at the forefront of the organic horticulture movement for 50 years and is dedicated to researching and promoting organic gardening, farming and food.

Global Justice Now
Global Justice Now is a democratic social justice organisation working as part of a global movement to challenge the powerful and create a more just and equal world. We mobilise people in the UK for change, and act in solidarity with those fighting injustice, particularly in the global south.

Global Witness
Global Witness runs pioneering campaigns against natural resource-related conflict and corruption and associated environmental and human rights abuses.

Greenpeace (observer)
The vision of Greenpeace is to transform the world by fundamentally changing the way people think about it. We want governments, industry and each and every person to stop viewing the Earth as an inexhaustible resource and start treating it as something precious that needs our protection and careful management. We all need a planet that is ecologically healthy and able to nurture life in all its diversity.

IIED
IIED is a policy research organisation working at the interface between development and environment. We work with partners on five continents, building bridges between policy and practice, rich and poor communities, the government and private sector, and across diverse interest groups.

Landworkers’ Alliance
The Landworkers’ Alliance is a organisation of people in England and Wales who make their livelihoods from producing food, fuel and fibre using sustainable methods of production. We campaign for the rights of small producers and a better food system.

Permaculture Association
The Permaculture Association is the national charity that supports members and the public with advice, support, information and training about the theory and practice of permaculture.

Pesticide Action Network UK
PAN UK believes it is possible to eliminate the use of hazardous pesticides, to reduce dependence on pesticides and to increase the use of sustainable alternatives to chemical pest control in agriculture, urban areas, public health and homes and gardens.

Practical Action
Practical Action uses technology to challenge poverty, working with poor women and men around the world. We find out what people are doing and help them to do it better. Through technology we enable poor communities to build on their skills and knowledge to produce sustainable and practical solutions – transforming their lives forever and protecting the world around them.

RSPB (observer)
The RSPB is a wildlife conservation organisation that speaks out for birds and wildlife, tackling the problems that threaten our environment.

Save the Children
Save the Children works in 120 countries. We save children’s lives. We fight for their rights. We help them fulfil their potential.

Scottish Crofting Federation
The SCF is the only member-led organisation dedicated to promoting crofting and it is the largest association of small scale food producers in the UK. Our mission is to safeguard and promote the rights, livelihoods and culture of crofters and their communities.

Self Help Africa
Self Help Africa works with rural communities to help them improve their farms and their livelihoods. Our mission is to empower rural Africa to achieve economic independence – and on a continent where up to 75% of people rely on small-scale agriculture for their survival, we believe that it is only by tackling the challenges faced by rural farming communities that real and sustained economic progress can be made across sub-Saharan Africa.

Send a Cow
For over 20 years Send a Cow has been helping thousands of African families and orphans grow enough food to eat, sell their produce and develop small businesses that last. Providing livestock, seeds, training and ongoing support, we help families leave poverty behind for good.

Soil Association
The Soil Association is a membership charity campaigning for healthy, humane and sustainable food, farming and land use.

Susila Dharma
Susila Dharma’s mission is to to relieve human suffering and promote just and sustainable development. Its projects are primarily initiated by local people and development professionals in developing countries. Susila Dharma links the projects with funders, promotes their work and sometimes provides small-scale grants.

Sustain (observer)
Sustain: The alliance for better food and farming advocates food and agriculture policies and practices that enhance the health and welfare of people and animals, improve the working and living environment, enrich society and culture and promote equity. We represent around 100 national public interest organisations working at international, national, regional and local level.

Tearfund
Tearfund is an evangelical Christian relief and development agency working with over 500 church-based organisations to bring help and hope to communities in more than 50 countries.

War on Want
War on Want fights poverty in developing countries in partnership with people affected by globalisation. We campaign for human rights and against the root causes of global poverty, inequality and injustice.

Women’s Environmental Network
Women’s Environmental Network is the only organisation in the UK working consistently for women and the environment. Central to our approach is the belief that women have the right to information to enable them to make fair choices.

World Family
World Family is creating a space for dialogue and resource sharing between small scale farmers and all of us who value our environment and our communities. People and the food we eat are too important to be turned into mere commodities. It is through a thousand small acts of solidarity that we can support and empower the small scale farmers to feed the world.
